A FEW OF OUR PROJECTS
A young professional couple relocated to the Sacramento area. In search of a home that would serve them for a few years, they stumbled onto a production home that would fit their needs but they did not like what the builder was offering in terms of finishes. They called on Palmer Interiors and we were delighted to help give their new house the feel of a custom home they could enjoy for years to come. When the home was still under construction, we immediately knew a window would have to be added in the dining room, the carpet and linoleum would change to hardwood floors, the cabinets would need to be upgraded, and that eventually the countertops and backsplash would be upgraded to meet this young couple's taste. We were after a feel that was intentional to them and their roots, yet comfortable. And because we also helped them develop a vision for the front and backyard, we were able to bring in a modern Napa inspired feel with an authentic sprinkle of France, merging the interiors with the exteriors. See it for yourself!
A Provençal style home in the South of France gets a facelift. The kitchen was pretty at one time but tired and inefficient, bathrooms were unsafe and outdated. The homeowners heard of Corine's ties to France and asked her if she could assist with a remodel. Palmer Interiors was honored and immediately designed new layouts for a better flow of the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry area, selected new finishes but kept the style of the home and the land it sits on intact. The result is a beautiful blend of intentional, authentic and livable design, just the way we like it!
Our most recent large scale project was another labor-of-love kind of project. The house sits on a beautiful property outcropped with trees and a large pond. The busy clients requested the house to feel quaint, cosy, timeless yet elegant. One look at the property and we knew we had to infuse the home with natural elements, respect the land the house sits on and bring the feel of outdoors in. And because this was a client Corine had worked with on a previous project, she knew the homeowner cherishes pieces that are unique, imperfect, natural, artistic and even better yet pieces that have a sense of history. Beautiful natural stone, wood and limestone floors, a mix of wood and painted cabinets and a few imported European antique pieces adorn the place they now proudly call Home.
This was a labor of love kind of project, that started with beautiful wood flooring upstairs and progressed to a full kitchen and more remodel downstairs. A wonderful collaboration between the original designer, a talented homeowner, an attentive project manager, a crew of amazing craftsmen and Palmer Interiors' keen eye for French inspired details in this case. Quality products like distressed limestone floors, full slabs travertine stairs, very detailed cabinets, stone countertops, beams, European oak floors and so much more infuse this home without making it too elegant to enjoy. Grown children, grandchildren and large dogs are now running through the hallways enjoying this remodeled home in northern California.
One of our best attributes at Palmer Interiors is that we listen very carefully to our clients' needs and aesthetics. This homeowner had gone through a kitchen remodel with another high end company in her former home, so the bar was set high. The request was simple: update the kitchen with high quality products, rustic elements and her favorite colors: green and red. Challenge accepted! When we met at the house, two words came to mind: Nature Inspired. The home exists within the city limits but is blessed with its position. When looking out the windows, all we can see it greenery and trees, literally feeling like we are in a treehouse. So, we brought the outdoors in by totally framing the view, adding the homeowner's favorite colors and pulling shades from her existing beloved fireplace. The result is an intentional, beautiful, livable and safe kitchen that she LOVES! This alone makes us happy :-)
A commercial contractor called on our Palmer Interiors to help update their personal home. This family is busy, active in the community, they have pets and they entertain a lot. They described their sense of aesthetics and desires as "glamour-rustic", but they also wanted it to be comfortable and livable. Oh, and did we say we had to do a major of part of the remodel during the pandemic when products were scarce? Another example of quality products and a wonderful collaboration between good contractors, a detailed oriented designer and amazingly caring homeowners.
No wonder why patients are known to fall asleep as they are sitting in this zen inspired waiting room! May it be the calming colors, the artwork, the comfortable furniture or the view to the outdoors... whatever it is, the doctor, the staff and the patients love it! This very busy ophthalmology practice needed to add exam lanes within the existing space. Palmer Interiors went to work in collaboration with the doctor to fulfill the needs of the practice, selected nature inspired wall and carpet colors, procured comfortable yet contemporary furniture and meaningful artwork. The result is truly one of the most welcoming medical offices around the Sacramento area.
Did we say we also LOVE to search for key pieces? Yes, we do! And this is a perfect example of the extent of our services. We do not claim to design yards but we do love it when clients call us to work in conjunction with their landscape designers to bring a touch-or a whole lot of touch- of authenticity and art to the exteriors (and interiors of course!). These are the details that elevate a space and make it special. In this project, key pieces were sourced in France and in Carmel Valley to bring a casual yet elegant feel of the South of France. When can we move in?
A repeat client longed for a refresh of the primary bathroom. Architecturally, the house has a French Provincial feel but the former owners had pushed the "French Country" feel a bit too far. The space felt dark, dreary, unventilated... all the opposite of what a primary bathroom should feel like. The new owners were after a spa-like feel, a place were they could rejuvenate and enjoy soaking in the tub after a long day at work. So grab a glass of your favorite beverage or calming lavender infusion and see it for yourself!
Kind Words
"When I was interviewing designers for the remodel of our home, it wasn’t until I met with Corine Palmer that I felt someone actually “got me” and understood my vision and honored my style! I have a traditional taste but wanted an update that was “crystal meets rustic elements”. I wanted chandeliers with stone and raw wood. Corine was my girl! No one else understood! I was previously being talked into “farmhouse”, but to me that would not stand the test of time and I only wanted to do this once! This is personal. Four years and 3 phases of remodels later Corine has met the challenge EVERY time. These included our kitchen, family and dining rooms, office, game room and all bathrooms. Custom built- in cabinets, all new fixtures and surfaces including floor and paint. Her professionalism and expertise has delivered a gorgeous product and a home that I am proud to show off. I highly recommend her design services! She is not just my designer, but I consider her my friend."
